Nanostructured Advanced Materials Workshop in Nablus, Palestine

Program Overview

The program consists of the following activities:
  • General presentation by Palestinian scientists and decision makers on research activities at various institutions as well as the S & D policies and national plans of Palestine, and local funding and resources at the governmental, private and commercial levels.
  • General presentation by American scientists and industrialist on the themes of the workshop. These are plenary presentation on each of the topics, and with a general kind of focus. The talks should be of general character to suit the interdisciplinary audience, of a level that brings the audience to the state of the art, and suggestive of interesting problems that may be of low cost yet of interest to American researchers.
  • Panel / group discussions:
  • Avenues for education and training through research
  • Role of the university in general education (outreach and special programs for the talented and the gifted)
  • Avenues for partnership between academia and industry and tech transfer
  • Centers for scientific excellence in nanotechnology
  • Avenues for collaborations and funding (local, regional and international)
  • Visits to K-12 schools
  • Demonstration and hands on training on nanotechnology for students, teachers, and young researchers
